A recent survey carried out by Travelodge estimates a 10% increase in people taking holidays in Britain instead of heading abroad this year. With the tough economy and the average household income not stretching as far people are looking at ways to save. Britons are not willing to give up on a holiday altogether so instead are looking at ways to save. One way to do this is to stay in the British Isles. This is good news for the UK tourist industry. Estimated to be worth something in the region of £7.2 billion.

No hygiene rating display required for pubs and restaurants

A recent ruling means pubs and restaurants in London will not have to display food hygiene ratings, a voluntary system introduced by the FSA. This system was looking set to become compulsory in London boroughs. However following a successful legal challenge by the BHA and BBPA the system is staying voluntary, for now.
